Bio

Amoris Umbra is a band originally from Chile that started in 2001 as an evolution of a previous metal band that was exploring new doom and gothic sounds with female lead singer.

The band initially recorded a 5-songs demo in 2001 called ‘Laberintos Eternos’ with band members Betty on female vocals, Francisco on male vocals and bass, Michael on guitar, Patricio on keyboards and Victor on drums. The same year Rodry joined the lineup on guitar, proposed and founded the new band name ‘Amoris Umbra’, and start contributing in songwriting, musical arrangements, and production.

Between 2001 and 2003 Amoris Umbra continue working on new songs, performing live shows in multiple Chilean venues and participating in rock festivals winning some awards.

In 2003 the band record a 4-songs debut EP album called ‘Brisa del Sur’ (‘Breeze of South’ ). The EP was independent made with low budget and released in Chile with a limited number of copies that were distributed locally and internationally, but was very good received in the doom and gothic metal scene.

The band had multiple lineup changes between 2004 and 2006. In 2004 Victor (drums) left the band and Nelson joined Amoris Umbra as the new drummer. Early in 2005 Michael (guitars) left the band, and the band continue playing with 5 members lineup: Betty (lead vocals), Rodry (guitars), Francisco (bass, vocals), Patricio (keyboards) and Nelson (drums). Months later Patricio left the band as well. In 2006 Michael returned to the band and continue playing with 5 members lineup: Betty (lead vocals), Rodry (guitars), Francisco (bass, vocals), Nelson (drums) and Michael (guitars).

Finally the band split-up in 2006 when both Francisco and Michael decided to leave Amoris Umbra to return with their previous Maldicion metal band project. Betty and Rodry decide to hiatus for sometime, and so Nelson joined another metal band. Since then, Amoris Umbra band has been formed as a duo by Betty (vocals) and Rodry (guitars, bass, keyboards, drums). The split-up led to a hiatus of the band until 2020 when Betty and Rodry started working on new music of Amoris Umbra.

The band currently based in Florida US released in 2022 a new single named ‘Stay Alive’ meanwhile continue working on the songs for the next album.
